ila Wines is a partnership between good friends Mary Bradley and Ash Mehta.
A native of Michigan, Mary has been involved in California wine making for more than eight years, starting in 2008 at Tantara Winery in Santa Maria. After working the 2009 harvest in Marlborough, New Zealand Mary returned to the Central Coast and was named the eonologist at the famed Zaca Mesa Winery in Santa Ynez. Since leaving Zaca Mesa, Mary has helped produce wines for Cotiere and Perfect Left in Santa Maria.
Ash and his wife Lissa own two wine bars, Tastes of the Valleys in Pismo Beach and Taste in the Alley in Paso Robles. Ash and Lissa got involved in the wine business after Ash was transferred to the Central Coast by Fidelity National Financial. Ash and Lissa decided to stay in Shell Beach, CA rather than face the prospect of leaving this lovely area.
Tastes of the Valleys, Pismo Beach was named TOP 20 WINE BARS IN AMERICA by Wine Enthusiast Magazine in August 2015.

This new project by wine bar owner Ash Mehta and winemaker Mary Bradley shows much promise, starting with woody elderberry, tar, black pepper and dense lavender on the buoyant nose. The sip starts with powerful pepper and then coalesces around cassis and black-currant fruit, a tarry minerality, dried herbs of thyme and juniper and a cocoa finish. —M.K. abv: 14.5%
